verb  A verb is a word that shows an action, occurrence, or state of being in a sentence. Examples Action verbs: run, write, eat, jump → She runs every morning. State of being verbs: is, am, are, was, were → He is happy. Helping (auxiliary) verbs: have, has, will, can, do TYPES OF VERBS 1. Action Verbs Show physical or mental action.
